Community Engagement Committee

The Community Engagement Committee was established to lead the Office’s efforts to strengthen relationships with the communities we serve, and build trust by identifying and engaging in outreach opportunities with local organizations, schools, and agencies.  The Committee has organized events for the Office’s leadership, line assistants, and employees, to engage with a wide range of groups in every corner of the SDNY, including high school students in the Bronx, Manhattan, and White Plains through the Justice for All Initiative; community members at NYPD National Night Out Against Crime events; middle school students involved in the Law Enforcement Explorers program; leaders of financial regulatory agencies, institutions, and companies; and individuals from across the nation who tragically lost family members to the fentanyl epidemic.

Project Safe Neighborhoods

Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which was first initiated in 2001 by the Department of Justice, is a nationwide commitment to reduce gun and gang crime in America by networking existing local programs and providing these programs with additional tools.  The Office has worked with sites in Yonkers, Newburgh and the Bronx, partnering with non-profit organizations, local police departments, and district attorney’s offices, to reduce and prevent gun violence.
