Former Niagara Falls Man Sentenced For Making A False Statement

BUFFALO, N.Y.-U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. announced today that Jing Lin, 35, currently of Stanley, North Carolina, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, who was convicted of making a false statement, was sentenced to one year of probation by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara.  

Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian J. Counihan, who handled the case, stated that the defendant, originally from China, has been a permanent resident of the United States since 2012. Lin operated the Jing Buffet Restaurant on Military Road in Niagara Falls. During an inspection of the restaurant’s workforce, the defendant made false statements about the number of people working for him and the citizenship status of his  employees.

The sentencing is the result of an investigation by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge James C. Spero.
