Divisions

Asset Recovery Division
ARD is responsible for civil litigation on behalf of the United States in such areas as asset forfeiture, health care and government programs fraud, civil rights, and financial litigation, and represent federal agencies in bankruptcy proceedings.

Civil
The Civil Division defends lawsuits brought against the United States, such as constitutional torts, medical malpractice, negligence claims, defense of federal programs and agency decisions, employment discrimination, immigration, social security, and bankruptcy.

Criminal
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York prosecutes all violations of Federal criminal law occurring within the seventeen (17) counties comprising Western New York.

Appellate
The Appellate Division is primarily responsible for representing the interests of the Western District of New York in litigation before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Administrative
The Administrative Division provides a full range of law office support services to accomplish the overall mission of the USAO-WDNY.

Branch Office (Rochester, New York)
The Western District of New York has one branch office located at 100 State Street, in Rochester, N.Y.
