Pittsburgh Man Sentenced for Escape from Residential Reentry Center

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – A resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty and was sentenced in federal court to three months of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release, on his conviction for escape from custody, Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti announced today.

Senior United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer imposed the sentence on Ryan Gainer, 44.

According to information presented to the Court, on October 17, 2024, following a 48-hour home pass, Gainer knowingly and without authorization failed to return to the residential reentry center where he was serving a federal sentence.

Assistant United States Attorney Heidi M. Grogan prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.

Acting United States Attorney Rivetti commended the United States Marshals Service for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Gainer.
