1865. S Visa Program -- Adjustment To Lawful Permanent Resident Status

For aliens who comply with the terms of their nonimmigrant status, the sponsoring law enforcement agency may then make an application for them to be permitted to apply for lawful permanent resident (green card) status. 8 U.S.C. § 1255(i). Once lawful permanent resident status is obtained, supervision ceases. An application for adjustment to lawful permanent resident must be made prior to the three-year expiration of the alien's S visa.
