HOPE – New Mexico Prescription Drug Misuse and Overdose Prevention and Pain Management Advisory Council

Crime Prevention and Community Outreach Coordinator and DEA attended the New Mexico Prescription Drug Misuse and Overdose Prevention and Pain Management Advisory Council meeting. The Advisory Council discussed matters addressed during the recent state legislative session, in particular, administration of opioid antagonists, opioid prescription monitoring, chronic pain study, the study of opioid abuse, opioid abuse prevention, and assisted treatment, and opioid reversal medication training. The Advisory Council is comprised of representatives from the UNM College of Pharmacy, UNM Health Sciences Center, NM Department of Health and stakeholders in the heroin and opioid abuse prevention community. The USAO and DEA attend these meetings as part of the strategy component of the HOPE Initiative.
