On July 17, 2023, the ICITAP-Mexico Courtroom Competency Training Program inaugurated its first course delivery for the state of Tabasco in Villahermosa. Some municipalities in the state of Tabasco are considered areas of focus in the US-Mexico Bicentennial Security Agreement. In his opening remarks, the Tabasco Attorney General thanked representatives of ICITAP and the U.S. Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) for their support and collaboration so that the institution receives up-to-date, practical and effective training. He went on to recognize the Attorney General’s operational staff for their "effort, dedication, professionalism and willingness to continue seeking improvements in the quality of the service they provide." Also in attendance were the Deputy Prosecutors for Common Crimes, High Impact Crimes, and Human Rights. More courses are scheduled for Tabasco through November to provide prosecutors, analysts, investigators and forensic experts skills and abilities which translate into a better performance in court benefiting society. This is the 18th state out of Mexico’s 32 states where the Courtroom Competency Training Program has given courses; that is, ICITAP has provided training in over 50% of the country at the state level. In Mexico, ICITAP works with the support of and in coordination with INL.
