On January 24, the first class of cadets graduated from one of two new permanent satellite Patrol Police Academies of the National Police of Ukraine (NPU) that opened last summer. Thirty-five (35) cadets successfully completed the six-month curriculum at the Kryvyi Rih Academy located in central Ukraine. The NPU Chief of Prevention, Patrol Police Department Deputy Chief, local Kryvyi Rih authorities, including the Mayor, and international partners including ICITAP, INL, the Embassy of Canada, and CPMU attended the ceremony. ICITAP has provided critical support for the new facility in the form of curriculum development, recruitment of staff, instructors, and command staff, management training, and information technology expertise. ICITAP will further bolster the Academy with infrastructure support including dorm renovations, heating system replacement, and roof repairs in the coming months. In Ukraine, ICITAP provides training and mentoring to the NPU with the support of and in coordination with the State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
