United States v. Liviu Mihai Dumitru and Mihai Daniel Dan, 5:23-cr-00106-GFVT

In this fraud scheme, victims who responded to ads to rent vacation homes on legitimate vacation rental websites were redirected to spoofed vacation rental websites controlled by perpetrators intending to lure victims into sending money for vacation rentals that either did not exist or the perpetrators did not own or have the right to rent. Through these websites and communications wherein the perpetrators posed as vacation home homeowners/lessors/managers, the defendants and their coconspirators defrauded victims into sending funds in a number of ways, including bank wire, gift card, cryptocurrency transfer, or other payment methods.
