Application Procedures

Applications for attorney positions are accepted on a year-round basis. An application generally consists of a résumé and cover letter. Résumés are kept for the current and previous calendar years. When attorney vacancies arise, résumés are reviewed to locate candidates and arrange interviews. Attorneys are usually required to have at least two years of attorney work experience.

Applications for non-attorney positions are accepted through competitive recruitment procedures. Candidates must usually apply by responding to posted vacancy announcements. Non-competitive eligibles may submit applications at any time, as well as current and former Department of Justice employees. Applications generally consist of a résumé and other material as requested in open announcements.

Current vacancy announcements, if any, can be found at the Office of Personnel Management and Department of Justice Career Opportunities.
