2024 The Law and Your Community - Hendry County
Approximately 60 residents participated in the Law and Your Community workshop in Clewiston (Hendry County) on October 1, 2024. This nationally recognized workshop and training program, developed and delivered by the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), is designed to improve the communication and understanding of federal, state, and local laws between law enforcement officers and citizens. NOBLE team leader Tonja Bryant-Smith (Deputy Chief, Tallahassee Police Department), along with other NOBLE team members, facilitated the discussion at the Harlem Civic Center in Clewiston. Welcoming remarks were given by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jesus Casas (Fort Myers Division), Captain Susan Harrelle (Hendry County Sheriff’s Office) and Chief Thomas Lewis (Clewiston Police Department). Hendry County Board Commissioner Emma Byrd coordinated the event in partnership with the USAO-MDFL and NOBLE.
