Omaha Man Sentenced to 27 Months After Pawning Ammunition as a Felon

For Immediate Release
U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Nebraska

United States Attorney Susan Lehr announced that Scott Young, age 50, of Omaha, Nebraska, was sentenced on January 29, 2025, in federal court in Omaha for possession of ammunition by a felon.  United States District Judge Brian C. Buescher sentenced Young to 27 months’ imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal system. After Young’s release from prison, he will begin a 2-year term of supervised release.

On November 9, 2023, Young pawned 10 boxes of 12-gauge shotgun ammunition at Sol’s Jewelry and Loan in Omaha. Each box contained 25 live shells for a total of 250 shells. Surveillance footage from Sol’s confirmed Young went into Sol’s and sold the ammunition for $60. Fingerprint analysis confirmed Youngs prints on the ammunition. Young was a felon at the time and was therefore prohibited from possessing ammunition.

This case was investigated by the Omaha Police Department.
