BUFFALO, N.Y. – U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today that Matthew Bordonard, 26, of Amherst, NY, pleaded guilty before Chief U.S. District Frank P. Geraci to possession of child pornography. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Marie P. Grisanti, who is handling the case, stated that on June 4, 2013, a search warrant was executed at the defendant’s residence. Law enforcement officers seized computers, hard drives and other electronic items. A forensic analysis determined that Bordonard’s laptop computer contained more than 340 images and video files containing child pornography including graphic images and videos of children under the age of 12 years old.

The plea is the culmination of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation Task Force, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Adam S. Cohen. The task force includes the Buffalo Police Department, Cheektowaga Police Department, and Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 18, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. before Judge Geraci.
