Man Sentenced for Receipt of Child Pornography

        BUFFALO, N.Y.—U.S. Attorney, William J. Hochul, Jr. announced that John Luchetti, 27, of Buffalo, N.Y., who was convicted of receipt of child pornography, was sentenced to 96 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Maura K. O'Donnell, who handled the case, stated that the defendant was convicted of receipt of child pornography in connection with his possession of numerous images of child pornography, some depicting prepubescent minors, and some depicting sadistic or masochistic conduct, and his use of an Internet file-sharing program to receive and distribute the images.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorney’s Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. The sentencing is the culmination of an investigation by Special Agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge James C. Spero.
