ROCHESTER, N.Y.-U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced today that Nijesh Gurung, 20, of Rochester, NY, who was convicted of manufacturing and dealing in firearms without a license, was sentenced to serve 12 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci, Jr.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Cassie Kocher, who handled the case, stated that between July 27 and September 28, 2020, Gurung sold five Personal Made Firearms, aka “ghost guns,” to an undercover officer. Gurung sold the firearms, which had no known firearm manufacturer, model, or serial number, for as little as $1,100 and as much as $1,600 each. On October 1, 2020, investigators executed a search warrant at Gurung’s Tacoma Street residence and recovered an unknown caliber semiautomatic pistol, with no serial number, 29 rounds of ammunition, and other parts and accessories and tools used in the production of ghost guns.

The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge John B. Devito, New York Field Division, and the Ontario County Sheriff’s Department, under the direction of Interim Sheriff Philip Povero.
