New applicants and renewal applicants should become familiar with the USTP’s Final Rule titled “Application Procedures and Criteria for Approval of Nonprofit Budget and Credit Counseling Agencies by United States Trustees” that went into effect April 15, 2013. The Rule is available on the USTP’s public Web site here.

NOTICE TO CREDIT COUNSELING APPLICANTS THAT OFFER DEBT MANAGEMENT PLANS
The United States Trustee Program has developed a recommended bond form for Nonprofit Budget and Credit Counseling Agencies that offer debt management plans. This recommended bond form is not mandatory. It does, however, include language the U.S. Trustee Program has determined to satisfy minimum requirements.
