Dallas Strike Force Operations
The Dallas Strike Force has had tremendous success in prosecuting health care fraud, kickback, money laundering, and other complex fraud schemes. Together with federal and state law enforcement partners, Dallas Strike Force prosecutors work to increase accountability in the healthcare industry and decrease the presence of fraudulent providers in Texas, especially in more densely populated areas. The Dallas Strike Force has brought cases in both the Northern District of Texas and the Eastern District of Texas involving the defrauding of Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, CHAMPVA, and Department of Labor Office of Workers’ Compensation, among other federal health care programs.
Recent successes include:
- Investigating and prosecuting complex health care fraud schemes involving telemedicine, genetic testing, and durable medical equipment (DME), and bringing charges against doctors, laboratory owners, DME supply company owners, and marketers.
- Trial convictions of DME supply company owners for the purchase of completed doctors’ orders in exchange for kickbacks and bribes.
- Investigating and prosecuting multiple licensed medical providers for prescribing unnecessary compound creams and for paying and receiving kickbacks and bribes.
The Dallas Strike Force regularly participates in nationwide and statewide fraud enforcement actions, including the 2021 National Health Care Fraud Enforcement Action; the 2019 Operation Double Helix Enforcement Action; the 2019 Texas Health Care Fraud and Opioid Enforcement Action; and the 2019 Operation Brace Yourself Enforcement Action.
