U.S v. Matthew Weiss
4/15/25: Today the Court set forth the following scheduling order for the defendant. All motions are to be filed by July 15th, 2025. The final pretrial date is set for October 7th, 2:00pm, and Jury Trial scheduled for November 4th, 2025, before the Honorable Nancy Edmunds, United States District Court, 231 W. Lafayette, Detroit, MI 48226. Victims are not required to attend but certainly have the right if they want to.
3/31/25: A status hearing is scheduled before Judge Nancy Edmunds for April 15, 2025, 10:30 AM at Courtroom 811, 231 W Lafayette Blvd, Detroit, MI 48226 for defendant(s) Matthew Weiss. The purpose of this hearing is to determine if there are issues that the Court needs to address and to schedule any necessary future court dates. Victims are not required to attend but certainly have the right if they want to.
3/24/25: The defendant was arraigned in Federal Court today Infront of Judge Stafford. He stood mute and the Judge entered a Not Guilty into the record. Judge Stafford gave him a $10,000 unsecured bond with several conditions. He is to have no contact ( direct or indirect) contact with any victim/witness in the case, must surrender his passport, do not possess ANY personal Identifiable information (PII), other than his own, notify pretrial services before leaving Eastern District of Michigan, must submit to network monitoring and installation of software from pretrial services on his devices. Next court date will be determined by Judge Edmunds.
3/21/25- The defendant will appear at Duty Court on Monday 3/24/25 at 1pm for arraignment. This case has been assigned to Judge Nancy Edmunds.
3/20/25 – An indictment was filed in the case of United States v. Matthew Weiss., which charges the former University of Michigan Football co-offensive coordinator with 14 counts of Unauthorized Access and 10 counts of Aggravated identity theft. If you are a victim in this case, you will be receiving a notice from our department within the next couple weeks. It is advised that individuals receiving a letter from the United States Attorney’s Office Victim/Witness Department, take precautionary steps and contact the credit bureau reporting companies, advising them of the possibility of identity theft.
