Acting United States Attorney Brit Featherston
Brit Featherston was named Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas, effective Oct. 1, 2016. Before becoming a lawyer, Mr. Featherston was first an Emergency Medical Technician and then a detective with the Port Arthur Police Department for ten years. After graduating from Lamar University and Baylor University School of Law, he worked in private practice, defending personal injury cases. He soon moved to the Brazoria County District Attorney’s Office as a criminal prosecutor. Mr. Featherston first joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office in 1996 as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Lufkin office, handling drug cases, before being hired as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in 1998. He has been the district’s National Security Chief and Crisis Management Coordinator since 2003, and has served as the Attorney-in-Charge of the Beaumont office, the Executive Assistant U.S. Attorney, and First Assistant U.S. Attorney. He has also served two special tours with the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys, Department of Justice, in Washington, D.C.
