After a three-day trial before U.S. Chief Judge Shelly D. Dick, a federal jury unanimously convicted Calvin Kemp, age 60, of Gonzales, Louisiana, and Chevez Tywan Robillard, age 33, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, of conspiracy to commit wire fraud along with multiple counts of aggravated identify theft, announced U.S. Attorney Kurt L. Wall. 

The Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs has awarded $6,361,777 to the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement (“LCLE”) to provide resources to help Louisiana agencies combat the drug epidemic, violent crimes, and to strengthen the juvenile justice system, announced U.S. Attorney Kurt L. Wall.  

Alexander Brock, age 60, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was sentenced to 110 months in federal prison following his conviction for conspiracy to distribute and to possess with the intent to distribute cocaine and crack cocaine. 

After a two-day trial before U.S. District Court Judge John W. deGravelles, a federal jury unanimously convicted John I. Davis, age 47, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, of conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin and possession of firearms by a convicted felon, announced U.S. Attorney Kurt L. Wall.

William Alexander Ruiz-Ponce, age 28, of Honduras, who is present in the United States without authorization, was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison following his conviction for attempted coercion and enticement of a minor. 

Godson Oghenebrume, age 23, a Nigerian national residing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was sentenced to 27 months in federal prison by U.S. Chief Judge Shelly D. Dick following his conviction for possession of a firearm by an alien admitted to the United States under a non-immigrant visa, announced United States Attorney Kurt L. Wall. 

Damiene M. Varice, age 47, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison following his conviction for distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl, announced United States Attorney Kurt L. Wall. 

United States Attorney Kurt L. Wall announced that Cody Gaspard, age 27, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison following his conviction for assaulting a postal employee. 

Today, United States Attorney Kurt L. Wall announced criminal charges against Kendrick Derrell Adams of Houston, Texas, for conspiracy to acquire and obtain possession of controlled substances by fraud and acquiring and obtaining possession of controlled substance by fraud in connection with a scheme to purchase controlled substances using a fraudulent prescription.

In honor of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Louisiana, Kurt L. Wall, joins the Elder Justice Coordinating Council and other government agencies and organizations across the country to spread the word about government and business imposter scams.

A federal grand jury returned a seventeen-count indictment charging four former East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office (EBRSO) employees, assigned to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison (EBRPP), for civil rights violations announced United States Attorney Kurt Wall. 

Kentro Taylor, age 52, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was sentenced to 180 months in federal prison following his conviction for felon in possession of a firearm.
