Chad E. Meacham was appointed United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas on Oct. 2, 2021.
He is the chief federal law enforcement officer for the district, which covers 96,000 square miles and a population of approximately eight million. Mr. Meacham oversees roughly 250 attorneys and staff across five division offices and is responsible for all federal criminal prosecutions and civil litigation involving the United States government in the region.
Mr. Meacham has been a career prosecutor engaged in both trial and appellate work for almost 29 years. He has been with the Northern District since 1998 and has previously served as First Assistant, Criminal Chief, Deputy Criminal Chief, Lead OCDETF attorney and Lead Appellate attorney.
He received his J.D. degree from Texas Tech University, and his B.S. from the University of North Texas.
He married a girl he has known since elementary school and has two grown children.
