The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York seeks to hire a diverse, talented, and dedicated team of lawyers who share the following attributes: the utmost integrity, a keen intellect, sound judgment, and a sincere commitment to public service. In our evaluation process, we pay close attention to an applicant’s analytical abilities and presentation skills, as evidenced by, among other things, his or her work experience, academic background, and writing samples. The Office generally prefers applicants who have more than two years of experience following graduation from law school, including work in a judicial clerkship, private law firm, non-profit organization, or other government office.
Due to budget constraints and an Executive Order imposing a hiring freeze on federal agencies, our Office is currently not accepting applications or interviewing applicants for positions as Assistant United States Attorneys. We encourage you to return to this site periodically, as we will be updating it whenever there is a change in our ability to hire new employees.
