Appellate Division

AUSAs, in consultation with the Appellate Chief, are responsible for writing appellate briefs and presenting oral argument before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Other appellate responsibilities include keeping AUSAs informed of changes and developments in the law, providing legal advice to Civil and Criminal Division AUSAs and to the United States Attorney, determining whether to file government appeals, reviewing district court filings on significant points of law, and participating in the formulation of policy.
