BUFFALO, N.Y.–U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today Ismael Burgos, 53, Jamestown, NY, who was convicted of attempted possession with intent to distribute cocaine, was sentenced to 30 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Caleb J. Petzoldt, who handled the case, stated that on January 27, 2015, the defendant attempted to receive a package from Puerto Rico via U.S. Mail. The package was deemed to be suspicious and investigators determined that it contained a quantity of cocaine. The cocaine was secreted inside a child’s booster safety seat.

The sentencing is the culmination of an investigation on the part of the United States Postal Inspection Service, under the direction of Shelly Binkowski, Inspector in Charge, Boston Division, and the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge James J. Hunt, New York Field Office.
