ALAN H. SILBERMAN

Alan H. Silberman is a partner in Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal, LLP, a U.S. national law firm, and chair emeritus of its Antitrust, Marketing Practice, Franchise/Distribution Group. He received his legal education at the Yale Law School and has more than 40 years' experience in antitrust and franchising litigation, counseling and related transactional representation. He has tried lawsuits and argued appeals in courts throughout the United States, including landmark issues involving vertical price fixing, tying and exclusive dealing, franchise legislation, contract interpretation and good faith contract performance, new franchise development, franchise standards, non-competition disputes, and franchise terminations, non-renewals and transfers.

Mr. Silberman served previously as Chair of the American Bar Association Section of Antitrust Law. He is currently a Director and member of the Executive Committee of Lex Mundi, a worldwide association of 160+ independent law firms and chair of its Antitrust Competition and Trade practice group; a Director of the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation; a member of the Bureau of National Affairs' Antitrust and Trade Regulation Advisory Board; and frequent speaker and author on antitrust topics relating to competition, marketing, distribution, franchising, litigation at various national and international programs and seminars.

In addition to activities in the legal profession, Mr. Silberman is a member of the Board of Governors of the Northwestern University Library, President of the World Council of Conservative/Masorti Synagogues; a member of the Board of Governors of the Jewish Agency for Israel; a member of the World Zionist Organization Zionist General Council and a member of its Presidium. He previously served as President of the National Ramah Commission, Inc. of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, which coordinates the operation of Camps Ramah, educational summer programs for teen-agers and young adults in the United States Canada, Ukraine and Israel, and is the Chair of the National Ramah Commission Board of Trustees.

He is married to Margaret Silberman, a psychologist. They have two children, Elena Silberman Scott, a public relations executive, and Mark, an attorney. His biography appears in several national and international reference sources.
