Biography : Geoff Lewis

Geoff Lewis was promoted to Senior Vice President/Chief Legal Officer of RE/MAX International, Inc. in August 2005, less than a year after joining the RE/MAX network in October 2004 as Senior Vice President and General Counsel. His affiliation with RE/MAX marked a return to Colorado from his previous position as Vice President, Corporate Development and General Counsel for Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc. in Portland, Ore., a title he held since 1995. Prior that, he was Vice President and General Counsel for American Health Properties in Greenwood Village, Colo., from 1991 to 1995.

Lewis served as chief legal counsel for Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, a $1.8 billion company engaged in worldwide manufacture, marketing and sale of industrial trucks. He also managed the firm's law and risk department.

While at American Health Properties, he was chief legal officer for that New York Stock Exchange-listed real estate company and dealt extensively with securities regulations, public and private securities offerings, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and a variety of other related disciplines.

He also practiced in corporate securities, mergers and acquisitions while with the international law firm of Jones Day in Los Angeles, Calif., from 1985 to 1991.

Lewis received his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Brigham Young University in 1980, a Juris Doctorate (JD) in 1983 at the University of Virginia and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Colorado in 1994.
