Donald J. Russell

Don Russell is a partner in Robbins, Russell, Englert, Orseck & Untereiner LLP who practices antitrust law in Washington, D.C.

After graduating from Harvard Law School in 1977, he joined the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, where he served for 24 years. He was Assistant Chief of the Communications and Finance Section from 1986 to 1992; lead attorney in the Division's first monopolization case against Microsoft, in 1994; and Chief of the Telecommunications Task Force from 1995-2001.

He is a founding partner of the law firm Robbins, Russell, Englert, Orseck & Untereiner LLP. His antitrust practice at Robbins, Russell has focused on antitrust counseling, mergers and acquisitions, and appellate litigation. With his partner Roy T. Englert, Jr., he successfully represented Volvo Trucks in the Supreme Court's most recent case under the Robinson-Patman Act, Volvo Trucks North America, Inc. v. Reeder-Simco GMC, Inc.; and represented various amici curiae before the Supreme Court in other recent or pending antitrust cases, including Bell Atlantic Corp. v. Twombly; F. Hoffman La Roche, Ltd. v. Empagran S.A.; Intel Corp. v. Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.; Texaco, Inc. v. Dagher; and Weyerhaeuser Co. v. Ross-Simmons Hardwood Lumber Co.
