Hideo Nakajima

Hideo Nakajima is Deputy Secretary General of Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC), where he is in charge of international affairs, including heading the Japanese delegation for various meetings of multilateral organizations as well as bilateral talks between Competition Authorities.

Before the JFTC, he had been working for the Asian Development Bank in Manila , a regional development finance institution, more than six years in total, where the provision of the expertise and experience concerning the formulation and execution of competition law and policy to its developing member countries, including China and India, has recently been getting more important as a part of its capacity building assistance. In the Bank he worked as Assistant to the President and Director General of Budgeting and Personnel Management.

He originally entered the Ministry of Finance of Japan and had been working there around twenty years in various positions, including Research Director of International Finance Bureau and Chief Planning Officer of Japan痴 Fiscal Investment and Loan Program, which is an annual governmental financial program for channeling public funds into strategic sectors and activities.

He earned his MPA in 1982 from the Woodrow Wilson School of Princeton University, where he majored in Economics, and his LL.B. in 1978 from the Law Faculty of University of Tokyo.
