Joseph Farrell Biography

Joseph Farrell

Joseph Farrell is Professor of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society, former Editor of the Journal of Industrial Economics, and former President of the Industrial Organization Society. He is a Senior Consultant with Charles River Associates.

Farrell has written extensively in industrial organization and microeconomics, including the economics of standards and of innovation.

Professor Farrell was Chief Economist at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in 1996-1997, and later was Deputy Assistant Attorney General and Chief Economist at the Antitrust Division of the US Department of Justice, 2000-2001.
