The Expert Analysis Group (EAG) analyzes the competitive effects of horizontal and vertical mergers and of potentially anticompetitive business practices. Using economic theory and the evolving empirical tools of our trade, we study the strategies of firms and the dynamics of industries. Our investigations help us to model the economic interactions in a market so that we can estimate price and other effects that may result from a lessening of competition. EAG economists are influential members of every case team; recent cases in which we played major roles include transactions involving healthcare, telecom, agriculture, chemicals, nuclear waste disposal, and beer.
