| Civil Action No. 82-0192 (HHG) |
MOTION OF THE UNITED STATES TO ESTABLISH BRIEFING SCHEDULE FOR PROPOSED MODIFICATION OF SECTION II(D)(1) The United States has filed a motion, under section VII of the decree, for a modification of section II(D)(1) to permit a trial, supervised by the Department of Justice and the Court, in which Ameritech could provide interexchange service for a limited geographic area, with appropriate safeguards, when competitive local exchange services become available. The United States respectfully suggests that the Court establish the following schedule for submission of the United States' memorandum and supporting affidavits and for responses and replies by all other decree parties and interested persons: May 1, 1995 | Memorandum of the United States in support of Motion
| May 31, 1995 | Comments and memoranda in response to the United States' Motion (including all decree parties and other interested persons whether supporting or opposing the motion)
| June 30, 1995 | Replies to the comments and memoranda (including United States' reply and all replies by any other party or interested person to any May 31 filing)
|
The United States believes that the suggested schedule should allow sufficient time for all interested persons to express their views while facilitating prompt consideration by the Court. The United States requests that, after briefing is completed, the Court schedule a hearing on the United States' motion at its earliest convenience.
| Respectfully submitted,
