91-1 | Recording Industry Association of America; Bolt, Beranek and Newman Systems and Technology Corporation |
3/14/91 |
Audio recording technology | Joint research project; Copyright licensing |
The joint venturers propose to develop technology that will prevent or control the unauthorized duplication of copyrighted recordings from analog sources by digital audio tape (DAT) recorders. DAT is a taped version of compact disc technology that greatly enhances the sound achieved on home recordings. The joint venture does not preclude RIAA members from developing or using other technologies.
Response: No present intention to challenge the proposal.
