Dear Senator Kennedy: This letter responds to the February 26, 1996, letter from one of your constituents, [REDACTED TEXT (b7D)] regarding various trade practices of the Frito-Lay Company and the possible acquisition by Frito-Lay of the Anheuser-Busch Company's Eagle Snack Division. The Department of Commerce, to which your office had referred [REDACTED TEXT (b7D)] letter for consideration and reply, forwarded it to the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice. The Department is aware of the concerns expressed by [REDACTED TEXT (b7D)] A member of the Antitrust Division's staff has tried to reach him by phone, without success. We are sending him a copy of this letter in hopes that he will get in touch with the Antitrust Divison staff member, Nina Hale, who may be reached at 202-307-0892. Thank you for your interest in this matter and in the enforcement of the antitrust laws.
