Figure 9. 850 MHz Cellular operators have lower churn rates This figure compares the monthly churn rates of the four major nationwide wireless operators, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile, on a quarterly basis from the first quarter of 2004 through the fourth quarter of 2006. It shows the Verizon churn rate as consistently lowest, declining from about 1.6% in the first quarter of 2004 to about 1.1% in the fourth quarter of 2006. AT&T's churn rate, which was second highest of the four in the first quarter of 2004 at 2.9%, declined to second lowest by the fourth quarter of 2006, at about 1.8%, passing Sprint, which had a churn rate of about 2.7% in the first quarter of 2004 and about 2.3% by the fourth quarter of 2006. T-Mobile had consistently the highest churn rate, beginning at 3% in the first quarter of 2004 and ending at almost the same level, 2.9%, in the fourth quarter of 2006. |
