BOSTON – A Dominican national unlawfully residing in Worcester has been indicted by a federal grand jury for illegally reentering the United States after deportation. The defendant was previously removed from the United States in November 2019.
Winderson Emiliano Baez-Vasquez, 27, was charged with unlawful reentry of a deported alien. Baez-Vasquez was ordered held pending trial, following an initial appearance in federal court in Worcester. According to court filings, in August 2019, Baez-Vasquez was encountered by immigration officials shortly after illegally entering the U.S. from Mexico. He was subsequently deported to the Dominican Republic in November 2019. It is alleged that, sometime after his removal, Baez-Vasquez illegally reentered the United States. On May 10, 2023, Baez-Vasquez was arrested in Worcester for Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Receiving Stolen Property over $1,200 and has pleaded guilty to the Receiving Stolen Property offense.
According to court filings, on Nov. 24, 2023, Baez-Vasquez was arrested again in Worcester and charged in state court with firearm offenses after allegedly shooting a gun at two cars on Nov. 18, 2023. Baez-Vasquez was subsequently indicted by the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and ordered held without bail on March 12, 2024. After Baez-Vasquez’s conditions were reduced to $10,000 cash bail, Baez-Vasquez made bail, allegedly removed his GPS bracelet and fled. In March of 2025, Baez-Vasquez was arrested in Florida for a traffic dispute in which he, while driving, pointed a gun at another driver. Baez-Vasquez pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (a gun) and was sentenced to 18 months in jail.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and David T. Wesling, Acting Field Office Director, Boston, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations, made the announcement today. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan O’Shea of the Worcester Branch Office is prosecuting the case.
The details contained in the charging document are allegations. The defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in the court of law.
