About The Office

The United States Attorney’s Office proudly serves the six judicial divisions of Western Virginia, with three offices staffed with full-time Assistant United States Attorneys and support staff. The main office is located in Roanoke, with branch offices located in Charlottesville and Abingdon. In addition, our prosecutors regularly work with our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners out of satellite offices in Winchester and Harrisonburg.

The United States Attorney’s Office is divided into two litigation divisions – a criminal division and a civil division. The criminal division is devoted to the prosecution of all federal criminal violations, including controlled substances, public corruption, white collar fraud cases, crimes against the environment and more.

The civil division is devoted to cases representing the government involving bankruptcy, collections, affirmative civil enforcement, federal tort claims defenses, EEOC and prisoner petitions.
