Brandon Booher Trafficked Fentanyl in Southwest Virginia

ABINGDON, Va. – A Bristol, Virginia man was sentenced to 78 months in prison for distributing more than 130 grams of fentanyl in Southwest Virginia and possessing a firearm during his drug trafficking activities.

Brandon Lee Booher, 28, previously pleaded guilty to one count of fentanyl distribution and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

“Fentanyl presents a clear and present danger to our citizens, and this office will continue to seek maximum accountability for those who traffic this poison for profit in the Western District of Virginia,” First Assistant United States Attorney Robert N. Tracci said today.

According to court records, law enforcement officers stopped Booher in Bristol, Virginia, in January 2026 and searched his truck, leading to the discovery of the fentanyl and firearm.

At the time of the traffic stop, Booher possessed 136.8 grams of fentanyl and a loaded, Glock 22 .40 pistol that officers found between the driver’s seat and the center console. Inside the locked console, officers found an electric vacuum sealer.

First Assistant United States Attorney Robert N. Tracci and Special Agent in Charge Anthony Spotswood for the ATF Washington Field Division made the announcement.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Bristol, Virginia Police Department, Drug Enforcement Agency, Holston River Drug Task Force, Virginia State Police, Lebanon, Virginia Police Department, Washington County Virginia Sheriff’s Office, and Virginia Department of Corrections investigated the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Danielle Stone is prosecuting the case.
