U.S. TRUSTEE PROGRAM EXTENDS TELEPHONIC OR VIDEO SECTION 341 MEETINGS TO CASES FILED THROUGH OCTOBER 10, 2020

The U.S. Trustee Program is extending the requirement that section 341 meetings be conducted by telephone or video appearance to all cases filed through October 10, 2020. However, if the responsible U.S. Trustee or case trustee determines that an in-person examination of the debtor is required to ensure the completeness of the meeting or protection of estate property, the U.S. Trustee may approve the continuation of the section 341 meeting to an in-person meeting in a manner that complies with local public health guidance.
PLEASE NOTE: Chapter 13 debtors should refer to their standing trustee’s website for additional information on telephonic participation, and chapter 7 debtors should follow the protocol provided below.

As previously noticed, the U.S. Trustee Program has suspended all in-person section 341 meetings for cases filed through May 10, 2020.
Please be advised that, until further notice, section 341 meetings for cases assigned to chapter 13 trustee Tom Vaughn that typically are held at 55 East Monroe, Suite 3850, Chicago, IL, will now be conducted via video teleconference.
For previously scheduled meetings that were cancelled, debtors’ attorneys will receive an Electronic Filing Notice from the Bankruptcy Court providing the date and time of the rescheduled meeting. Debtors’ attorneys are asked to contact their clients to alert them to the rescheduled meeting date and provide instructions on how to access the video conference. Specific instructions on the conduct of the meetings will be available at www.tomvaughntrustee.com by April 23, 2020.

Are you looking for a challenging position that plays a vital role in the bankruptcy process?
Are you a highly motived individual with integrity who can perform the duties required of a trustee in an unbiased manner?
Are you either an attorney in good standing, a certified public accountant, a college graduate from an accredited 4 year institution with a major in a business-related field of study or at least 20 credit hours of business related courses, or have equivalent experience?
If so, then you should attend this information session on October 10, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at the Office of the United States Trustee, 219 S. Dearborn, Room 804, Chicago, Illinois.
Members of the Office of the United States Trustee in Chicago and two panel trustees will answer questions and will discuss a number of topics important to potential applicants, including eligibility to serve, trustee duties, trustee oversight and reporting requirements, case assignments and trustee compensation.
