Important Notices for the District of the Virgin Islands Related to the Effects of Hurricanes Irma and Maria
- Due to Hurricane Maria, all meetings of creditors in chapter 7, chapter 11, and chapter 13 bankruptcy cases in the Division of St. Thomas and St. John and the Division of St. Croix, District of the Virgin Islands, scheduled through and including October 27, 2017, will not be held on the dates scheduled. The meetings will be held on dates in the future after notice is provided.
- Effective September 28, 2017, the Acting United States Trustee for Region 21 has temporarily waived the credit counseling and financial management education requirements for bankruptcy filers in the District of the Virgin Islands due to the effects of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. These waivers are made pursuant to 11 U.S.C. § 109(h)(2)(A), 727(a)(11), and 1328(g)(2). The waivers will remain in effect until further notice.
