2005. Motor Carrier Safety
The Federal Highway Administration (FHA) of the Department of Transportation investigates and refers directly to the United States Attorneys criminal cases involving violations of the Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (see 49 C.F.R., Parts 390-397), which were initially promulgated pursuant to Part II of the Interstate Commerce Act (49 U.S.C. § 304), as recodified in various provisions of Title 49, U.S.C. and violations of the Hazardous Materials Transportation Act, formerly 49 U.S.C. §§ 1801-1811 and subsequently codified at 49 U.S.C. §§ 5104(b) and 5124, involving motor carriers.
