Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP)
If you are currently outside of the United States and you are enrolled in the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) and would like additional information, please refer to the Department of Homeland Security's informational page on MPP.
If you came to the United States after waiting in Mexico under the U.S. Government's Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) and the U.S. has not informed you that you may remain in the country permanently, you do not yet have lawful status. You have continued responsibilities before the immigration court, which include:
- You must notify the immigration court and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) of any change to your address within five days of the change. To update your address or contact information with an immigration court, please complete and submit the form EOIR-33/IC for the immigration court where your case is currently being heard. You may also complete this form online through Respondent Access.
- You can ask the immigration court and DHS to transfer your case to another city or state. Remember that the transfer is not guaranteed.
- You must attend your immigration court hearings.
- Information on your case, including your next scheduled hearing, is available via EOIR's Automated Case Information system. Alternatively, case information may be found by calling 1-800-898-7180 / 304-625-2050 (TDD 800-828-1120).
- You must submit applications within the proper timelines.
- For example, you must submit an asylum application to the immigration court within one year of entering the United States.
