U.S. Citizenship
Status as a U.S. Citizen occurs by birth when an individual is born in the U.S., in one of the U.S. territories, and in other specific circumstances. To learn more about U.S. citizenship by birth, visit USCIS’s Citizenship Resource Center.
To learn about the requirements to naturalize, visit USCIS’s Citizenship Resource Center.
Immigration Judges are authorized to administer the Oath of Allegiance in DHS-conducted naturalization ceremonies. If you would like to have an Immigration Judge preside over a naturalization ceremony, please send your request to the Office of Policy or the Office of the Chief Immigration Judge.
