Training and Technical Assistance

At this time, the FY2025 Training and Technical Assistance Initiative Notice of Funding Opportunity has been withdrawn, and you should not finalize any applications started under it. Please continue to check back on the OVW website to stay up-to-date on current and future open funding opportunities.

OVW’s Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Initiative provides specialized training, expertise, and innovative problem-solving strategies to address the challenges of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Designed to strengthen the capacity of civil and criminal justice professionals and victim service providers nationwide, the TTA Initiative provides OVW grantees, potential grantees, and subgrantees with the tools and knowledge needed to effectively respond to the needs of survivors.

Training and Technical Assistance Resources for Grantees and Non-Grantees

Technical assistance projects offer in-person and online educational opportunities, peer-to-peer consultations, on-site technical assistance, and tailored assistance for OVW grantees and potential grantees. In more limited circumstances, OVW's technical assistance projects offer technical assistance to a small number of pilot sites as part of demonstration initiatives or assessments of newly developed training curricula or tools.

OVW's TA Providers deliver training, resources, and expertise to support professionals and organizations addressing domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. The TA Provider’s Resource Center (TA2TA), managed by the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ),  provides a list of a directory of OVW's TA providers TA providers and their training and resources for the field includes a comprehensive library of training tools and publications, and a calendar of OVW-funded in-person and online educational events. The platform also features webinars tailored for OVW TA providers and a dedicated orientation portal for new grantees participating in OVW’s TTA Program.

The below list includes select TA providers focused on commonly requested assistance but is not exhaustive of all available providers. For a full list, use the link below for the TA2TA portal.

How to Apply to Be an OVW Technical Assistance Provider

OVW TA providers are selected through a competitive grant process.

Eligible applicants for the Training and Technical Assistance Initiative are national, Tribal, statewide, or other nonprofit organizations. Eligible applicants must have the capacity to provide training and technical assistance on a national level to current and potential OVW recipients and subrecipients in U.S. states and territories. In rare circumstances, OVW may support institutions of higher education; state, local, or tribal governments or governmental agencies (e.g., police departments, prosecutor’s offices, or probation departments); or local non-profit organizations. However, in such circumstances, those entities must describe in detail their demonstrated history of providing TTA and include justification in the application that they have delivered TTA to a national audience.
