1726. Protection Of Government Processes -- Scope Of 18 U.S.C. 1505

As amended by the Victim and Witness Protection Act of 1982, the prohibitions contained in 18 U.S.C. § 1505 are limited to: (1) obstructions of process issued under the Antitrust Civil Process Act, 15 U.S.C. §§  1311-14, and under that section's omnibus clause, and (2) obstructions pertaining to pending proceedings before Congress and Federal departments and agencies. Tampering with witnesses and retaliating against witnesses and parties in connection with administrative or legislative proceedings are offenses now covered by 18 U.S.C. §§ 1512 (tampering) and 1513 (retaliation).
