1777. Prison Offenses -- Elements -- 18 U.S.C. 1792 -- "Federal Penal, Detention, Or Correctional Facility"

Title 18, United States Code, Section 1792 refers to "Federal penal, detention, or correctional facility," whereas Section 1791(a) refers to "prison," which is in turn defined in Section 1791(d) as a "federal correctional, detention, or penal facility." Indictments under Section 1792 for mutiny or riot should avoid the use of the term "prison." See this Manual at 1770.
