Tribal Sexual Assault Services Program Fact Sheet

Tribal Sexual Assault Services Program

OVW Tribal Affairs Division

The Tribal Sexual Assault Services Program (TSASP) provides funding to Indian Tribes, Tribal consortiums, Tribal organizations, and Tribal nonprofit organizations for the operation of sexual assault programs or projects in Indian Tribal lands and Alaska Native villages to establish, maintain and expand programs and projects to assist those victimized by sexual assault. TSASP grantees are strongly encouraged to incorporate cultural and traditional practices (e.g. talking circles, healing ceremonies, and sweat lodges). TSASP grantees provide services to all adult, youth, and child survivors of sexual assault - regardless of the relationship to the perpetrator and when the sexual assault occurred. Grant funds can also support services for family and household members and others affected, except for the perpetrator.
