The United States Attorney for the Western District of Washington serves as trial counsel for the United States and the office represents the United States in criminal and civil lawsuits.

The office prosecutes cases investigated by several law enforcement agencies in Western Washington.

The office also handles most civil claims made against the U.S. Government, pursues affirmative civil cases on its behalf including certain civil rights cases and collects debts owed to the United States.

The main office is located in Seattle. A branch office is located in Tacoma.
