Brief Description:  

Connor Riley Moucka and John Erin Binns are charged with wire fraud, computer fraud, aggravated identity theft, and related conspiracies in connection with alleged schemes to hack into at least 10 victim organizations’ protected computer networks, steal sensitive information, threaten to leak the stolen data unless the victim organizations paid ransoms, and sell the stolen data online. The defendants and their co-conspirators are alleged to have gained unlawful access to billions of sensitive customer records, including call and text history records, banking and other financial information, payroll records, passport and Social Security numbers, and other personally identifiable information; to have extorted millions of dollars from victim organizations; and to have advertised for sale stolen victim data on a variety of online cybercrime forums.

Defendant status:

Connor Riley Moucka

On March 21, 2025, co-defendant Connor Moucka consented to his surrender for purposes of extradition from Canada to the United States.  His initial court appearance and arraignment occurred on July 3, 2025 in the Western District of Washington.  At that time, the defendant entered a plea of “not guilty” to all charges and stipulated to detention. A trial date was originally set for August 18, 2025 and has since been continued to October 19, 2026 before Judge Lauren King.  He is currently in custody.

John Erin Binns

Co-defendant John Binns is not presently in U.S. custody.
