Civil Division

The Civil Division serves as the primary litigating component for federal litigation in the state of Arizona and represents the United States, its agencies, and employees in a wide variety of affirmative and defensive matters.  The Division’s defensive case load includes claims against the United States under the Federal Tort Claims Act, Administrative Procedure Act, and a variety of equal employment statutes.  The Division also maintains an Affirmative Civil Enforcement unit (“ACE”) that investigates claims under the False Claims Act as well as matters involving health and defense contractor fraud.

The Civil Division also has a Financial Litigation Program, which handles federal liens and collects criminal fines and federal debts.
