1557. Violence Within Premises -- 18 U.S.C. 1752

Section 1752(a)(4) of Title 18 outlaws any intentional act of physical violence against any person or property within the buildings, grounds, or areas specified in 18 U.S.C. § 1752(a)(1). The underlying concept of "violence" implies external physical contact. The statutory term "physical violence" therefore encompasses physical assaults on the person of another but not circumstances involving only an intention to use force against a person. Attempts, however, are punishable pursuant to § 1752(b).
